The Spalding Reconnected project is nearing completion, bringing new wayfinding markers and heritage information points to the town centre and riverside.
This two-year initiative, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, has been a collaboration between South Holland District Council, Heritage Lincolnshire, Transported Arts, East Mercia Rivers Trust, and Lincolnshire County Council.
New Features Include:
- 11 wayfinding points with historic town images, linking past and present
- Willow sculptures & riverbank biospheres to enhance ecology and biodiversity
- Coir roll habitats supporting river health
These additions aim to celebrate Spalding’s heritage, enhance its historic riverside, and lay the groundwork for future investment in the town.
Cllr Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for community development, said: “This project highlights Spalding’s rich history while creating opportunities for further regeneration. These new wayfinding points are a vital step in enhancing the town for residents and visitors alike.”
