Progress continues on A16 Pinchbeck roundabout Improvements

Mar 3, 2025 | News

Drivers using the A16 near Pinchbeck are being urged to plan ahead as improvement works at Pinchbeck Roundabout continue, bringing ongoing traffic restrictions and night-time closures throughout March.

February saw significant progress, with crews completing key surfacing work on the A16 between Vernatt’s Bridge and Springfield Roundabout. The base and binder layers at Pinchbeck Roundabout were also finished, and a new vehicle restraint system installation has begun. Site clearance and preparation for a new footpath near Springfield Shopping Centre are also underway.

March will see further road surfacing, drainage work, and the installation of key infrastructure, including fencing, road markings, and landscaping around the roundabout. However, these works will mean continued disruption for road users.

Traffic Disruptions and Closures

  • Narrowed lanes remain in place on the A16 at the roundabout and its approaches.
  • Night-time closures will continue on the roundabout and all connecting roads, including sections of the A16, until the end of March (Monday to Friday, 8pm-6am, subject to weather conditions).
  • Footpath closures will be in place as needed, including temporary restrictions near the A151 Coronation Channel and the northern footway on A151 Holbeach Road.
  • A pedestrian diversion will be available on the opposite side of the carriageway where necessary.
  • Off-peak lane closures and cycle lane suspensions at Springfield Roundabout are expected later in March, with dates to be confirmed.

Motorists are advised to check for updates, allow extra time for their journeys, and follow signed diversions where necessary. The works aim to improve traffic flow and safety in the long term, but in the short term, drivers should be prepared for delays during peak periods.
